We’re excited to be part of the Wisconsin Purple Martin Association’s free 16th Annual MARTINFest celebrating the beloved Purple Martin! Purple Martins are neotropical songbirds and Wisconsin’s largest swallow! This free family event is held at the Marsh Haven Nature Center that hosts a thriving purple martin colony. Enjoy watching the handling and banding of adult and baby Purple Martins, and learn from many other presentations including one from SOS Coordinator Lisa Gaumnitz on three ways to help songbirds at home. Stop by our booth to pick up a free native plant good for birds, a free bird-friendly coffee sample, and for a small donation, a window treatment kit. Many other bird-focused organizations will have informational booths about the needs of all songbirds. Enjoy children’s activities, wildlife exhibits, and hiking trails. Food is available for purchase and a vendor will sell custom Purple Martin Housing.
